Summer has come to a close, and fall has arrived in Estes Park! The summer heat turns into cooler temperatures, and the summer crowds have vanished. You have an excellent opportunity for a perfect autumn fishing excursion, and you can take on the vast waters with some fall fishing in Rocky Mountain National Park. Get ready to grab your fishing rod and reel in your trophy at these fall Rocky Mountain fishing hot spots!
Moraine Park
Fly fishers make Moraine Park their central hub during the fall. Big Thompson River runs through the vast meadowlands, and rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout populate the area. This is a scenic spot to fish within the park! Not only will you be surrounded by the golden autumn colors, but maybe a herd of elk.
Sprague Lake
Sprague Lake is one of the more accessible areas within the park. The trailhead is primarily flat with boardwalks, making it easier for the whole family to enjoy some fishing! This is a very popular spot in the Bear Lake area; we recommend getting there early to reel in some brook trout!
The Lake of Glass
While it may be a journey up to this serene fishing spot, the Lake of Glass is worth the hike! Brook trout and greenback cutthroats populate this area, making the advanced hike even more worth it. Unwind near the shore and enjoy the beautiful, elevated views!
Lone Pine Lake
Enjoy the beautiful sights of towering aspens, pines, and rock formations while fishing at Lone Pine Lake. You’re likely to catch plenty of brook trout in this area, with a terrific view of Andrews Peak.
Loch Vale
The Glacier Gorge Trailhead is filled with picturesque sights of fall foliage, waterfalls, and Loch Vale. Keep your eyes peeled for the slower-moving areas of the loch; you’ll be certain to catch plenty of fish if you do!
