Here are some of our favorite places to visit. These shops are close in proximity to Valhalla Resort, so you could stop by for dinner every night of your trip, or have a whole afternoon of shopping!

Elkhorn Avenue

The Taffy Shop: 121 West Elkhorn Ave, Estes Park
Open since 1935, this taffy store has been rated as one of the best in the United States, so if you have a sweet tooth, it’s a must-try! You can even see a Model K Kiss wrapping machine in action most mornings.

Ore Cart Rock Shop: 119 West Elkhorn Ave, Estes Park
The Ore Cart Rock Shop has one of the finest rock collections in town. With a variety of items, the store has plenary to offer any visitors. You can stop by and see their large selection of minerals, fossils, crystals, geodes, gold nuggets, and petrified wood. And, for anyone in for some mining of their own, the shop has its own mining cart full of unopened geodes that you can choose from and break open inside the shop.

Serendipity Trading Company: 117 East Elkhorn Ave, Estes Park
Serendipity Trading Company has the best in Native American jewelry, pottery, Zuni fetishes, and Hopi Kachinas. The shop features the work of outstanding contemporary artists who have been creating stunning jewelry for years. With a large collection of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and pendants created from materials such as sterling silver and real turquoise, the shop will satisfy anyone looking for hand-crafted jewelry.

Victor Issas Living Bronze Gallery: 157 West Elkhorn Ave, Estes Park
Full of life-like sculptures ranging anywhere from two-foot tall sculptures to the six-foot-tall fairy who waits outside the shop’s door, Victor Issas Bronze sculptures are breathtaking to look at with human features that almost seem to breathe in air on their own. Along with pieces from other artists, the shop is full of beautiful artwork that can’t be found anywhere else. Show up at the gallery on Sundays and Fridays because you may find Victor Issas working on his newest sculpture.

Mama Rose’s Restaurant: 338 E. Elkhorn Ave, Estes Park
A traditional Italian family dinner is always nice on our elegant patio located right on the edge of the Big Thomson River. The homemade pastas are indescribable and bring the feeling of mom’s home cooking to the table. Enjoy a meal with us in our fine dining room from 4-9 pm. The grounds on the river walk are not to be missed.

Danish Cone Factory: 191 W. Elkhorn Ave, Estes Park
There are infinite ice cream deserts to quiet any sweet tooth. Enjoy a homemade waffle cone with one of 28 different flavors of Blue Bell Ice Cream.

Red Rose Rock Shop: 490 Moraine Ave, Estes Park
A trip to Estes Park isn’t complete without stopping by Red Rose Rock Shop! Their store along the Big Thompson River has a variety of rocks, minerals, fossils, jewelry, gifts, and decor. Check out Dick’s Rock Museum, a historical landmark, free of charge connected to the main store!

Snowy Peaks Winery: 292 Moraine Ave, Estes Park
Snowy Peaks Winery offers tastings of wine made on-site as well as bottles made by other Colorado wineries. Try the Riesling, Merlot, Syrah, and more during a visit to this delightful tasting room. They also carry gourmet cheeses, jams, chocolates, and more in their shop. Snowy Peaks is child-friendly with its “No Wine-ing Zone,” where the kids will get to enjoy their own tasting, of juice.

Bird & Jim: 915 Moraine Ave, Estes Park
Bird & Jim is defining Colorado cuisine with ever-evolving seasonal and ingredient-driven menus sourced from the Front Range of Colorado and beyond. The menus are influenced by Colorado seasons and artisan approach to cooking. Their philosophy revolves around real food, fresh ingredients, and local, sustainable, and healthy eating.

Way Finder Restaurant: 900 Moraine Ave Suite 301, Estes Park
Way Finder Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner inspired by home cooking. They use high-quality and homemade products. Please note that they are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday for dinner.
