Estes Park Snowshoeing & Cross Country Skiing

Estes Park is most often thought of as a summertime getaway for warm activities like hiking and biking, but winter also brings its own special touches: just look at the extra grandeur snow gives our nearby mountains. Ever consider Estes Park snowshoeing? A great way to explore the mountains during this time is by foot at Rocky Mountain National Park, which has some of the best trails in Colorado.

The park has many great trails to try out, but one recommended starting location is Bear Lake Trailhead. From here you can access the out-and-back Bierstadt and Emerald Lake trails, or make a simple loop around Bear Lake itself. This area is of easy and moderate difficulty, but experts craving a challenge can also try the deep snow of Onahu Creek Trail, a 7.6-mile route that could make a whole day of outdoor adventuring.

Several different companies in the Estes Park area also offer guided snowshoe tours. Some of these will provide the equipment you need. Or for only $4 a day per person add on snowshoes to your reservation by calling us at (970) 586-3284.

If you happen to be visiting during the winter, we’re sure you’ll enjoy the advantages of seeing our spectacular mountain scenery without the crowds and the lift lines of a normal ski resort. Plan an Estes Park snowshoeing day for your next visit!

Be sure to view all other Estes Park activities. Book your stay in one of our beautiful Estes Park cabins.
