Romantic Estes Park Itinerary

Love in Estes Park

Planning a romantic long weekend away in the Rockies? Estes Park is the perfect destination for any type of traveler and with a plethora of activities and restaurants, it makes for an ideal destination for a romantic getaway and we want to help you plan yours with our romantic itinerary!

Thursday

Drop off your bags in your intimate cabin and have a welcome drink and dinner in Estes Park at the Estes Park Brewery. Sample some hand-crafted brews, enjoy the scenic views, and have a mouthwatering burger as you acclimate to Estes Park.

In the evening, relax with your sweetheart in your private hot tub and soak up the wonderful view of the starry sky together.

Friday

It’s an early rise for you two as you’re off to Rocky Mountain National Park for a hiking adventure with cooler morning temperatures and fewer crowds. Feel like you have the park all to yourself as you take in the stunning mountain vistas or lake views. There’s no shortage of trail options depending on what type of hike you’re after, whether you’re looking for an easy hand-in-hand stroll or a strenuous climb.

After exploring the trails it’s time to get on a different trail as you drive Trail Ridge Road, one of America’s scenic byways. The drive offers incredible views and allows you to reach new heights on the road that you may not hit on a hike. Find a spot for a romantic picnic with your significant other within the park.

Get back into town and take a breather before taking off for Snowy Peaks Winery for wine tasting and live music on Fridays from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. If you happen to be in town near the end of summer in mid-August, you’ll want to visit Bond Park for the Estes Park Wine Festival.

Pick up some groceries back in town to complement the bottle of wine you two are going to share and cook dinner back at your cabin. After dinner, take a glass of wine and sit outside to watch nature’s stunning sunset and count the stars as they start to pop out in the night sky.

Saturday

The two of you are saddling up for an adventure with a horseback ride with SK Horses. Rides start from an easy one-hour tour to full-day excursions. In the afternoon, either stroll around town and get some shopping in with a walk along Elkhorn Avenue or if your legs are up for the challenge, head back into the park for a mid-afternoon hike. Take some portable snacks with you or plan a shorter trek for lunch back at your cabin.

At night, head over to The Barrel and enjoy the social atmosphere of the outdoor beer garden and peruse their offerings of more than sixty rotating beers and ciders or select from their menu of wines and spirits.

If you’re looking for an activity-based date night, try the sip and paint classes at Murphy’s Resort!

Sunday

Start Sunday off right with sleeping in a bit and heading to The Other Side Restaurant for their Sunday champagne brunch! From carving stations to the omelet bar, no one will leave hungry.

After you’ve had your fill at brunch, it’s time to pack your bags for your safari – your photo safari that is! Photo safaris are a great way to see the Rockies and learn some new photography techniques to truly capture the beauty of the park and its wildlife. These tours are often intimate with only taking private parties on the safari. See the park in a new light and capture it on film forever!

After your last few days of hiking and holding your camera, it’s time to work out the kinks and muscle aches with a trip to Riverspointe Spa for an afternoon of massages and pampering treatments! They even offer specialty couples packages that include massages, facials, or relaxation rituals in their couples room.

End your romantic weekend with an elegant dinner on the Riverwalk at Mama Rose’s. Find Italian favorites accompanied by a full bar and impressive wine list. After dinner, take a leisurely walk along the riverfront with your significant other.
